How do I get an API key?
API keys are generated per-product using the Hermes CLI. Run hermes mcp add 4bots-<product> with your desired permissions. Keys are stored securely and used automatically for all requests.
What's the difference between x402 and API keys?
x402 enables pay-per-use micropayments via USDC on Base — no upfront commitment. API keys provide authenticated access with rate limits and usage tracking, ideal for consistent workloads. Both methods are supported.
Are there rate limits?
Yes. Free tiers have daily limits (shown above). API keys include configurable rate limits (default: 10K requests/day). Enterprise plans offer custom rate limits.
How do I upgrade or downgrade?
Contact support or generate a new API key with different permissions. Changes take effect immediately.
Is there a sandbox environment?
